ICEM is to run a special workshop for designers at the Interior Surfaces and Materials Conference taking place in Maritim Frankfurt, Germany on 30th May and 1st June 2005.

Organised by IQPC and sponsored by Rosti Technical Plastics, the two-day conference will examine automotive interior design trends and cutting-edge surface technologies, as well as uses for innovative new materials, including plastics, textiles and leather.

Speakers include Roberto Piatti, Managing Director, Stile Bertone, as well as senior representatives of companies such as Adam Opel, Renault, BASF and Merck, among others.

Alongside the formal conference sessions, ICEM will run a workshop designed to give delegates an insight into the way the ICEM Surf software suite is used by companies to streamline the vehicle interior design development workflow, from the early styling and clay model phase, through the design development, Class A surface development and design review phases, to final production tooling data release.

An important aspect of the workshop will be the way in which "virtual" materials and surface finishes, together with different lighting conditions, can be applied to the digital model to create photorealistic visualisations of vehicle interiors for live design review sessions.

The workshops will be lead by Pete Moorhouse, Director, Product Marketing, ICEM, with technical support from Bjoern Hesse and Matthias Mantei from ICEM's software development team in Germany.
