Ford selects ICEM Shape Design
Ford leads the way with the selection of ICEM Shape Design as their CATIA V5-integrated surfacing solution.
"Today's announcement represents another step forward to the fulfilment of our previously stated objective of providing advanced design development software solutions that fit seamlessly into a customer's existing product lifecycle management (PLM) environment", said Lee Cureton, Chief Executive, ICEM.
"We are introducing a PLM component that tightly connects automotive companies' styling and engineering departments, which is something we believe offers the industry great value based on their comments to us over the last few years".
ICEM's CAA V5-based software suite, ICEM Shape Design, encompasses a broad range of integrated shape generation, visualisation and modelling tools.

Viewer shares 3D models on the net
ICEM has developed new software for viewing 3D surface models and digital mock-up visualisations created with its ICEM Surf surface modelling, analysis and visualisation software suite.
The ICEM Shape Design software suite is based on a core product, ICEM Shape Design Centre, providing comprehensive surface modelling and analysis facilities.
ICEM Shape Design Centre is also the prerequisite base for a wide range of optional, addon modules to include advanced surface modelling, reverse engineering and data manipulation, analysis and design visualisation.
Initially, these optional, addon software modules within the ICEM Shape Design suite include and will be known as: Expert - for global surface model manipulation; Theme - for preparing 3D wire-frame and surface models from stylists' 2D sketches; Form - an intuitive polygon modelling tool for quickly creating, editing or enhancing shape and form from a concept or an existing physical model; Scan - for handling, trimming, filtering and diagnosing imported 3D scan data; Quick Surfacer - for the semi-automatic generation of a surface model from imported 3D scan data; Renderer - for generating high quality rendered and ray-traced photorealistic images and movies of a digital mockup; and Real-Time Renderer - for the creation of dynamic, photorealistic images and animations in real time.
The ICEM Shape Design software suite is offered as fully integrated components of a PLM systems environment based on Dassault Systemes' CAA V5 architecture.
As a result, a seamless workflow of design data is created from initial surface model to final design approval, whilst allowing visibility to all associated manufacturing functions.
Additionally, ICEM Shape Design comprehensively addresses the needs of customers who require a stand-alone solution for shape and surface development.
