KS Engineering of Munich becomes first company to order ICEM's recently-announced Shape Design surface design and engineering software suite.
KS Engineering of Munich has become the first company to order ICEM's recently-announced Shape Design surface design and engineering software suite.
The firm will integrate the software into its Catia V5 collaborative product development and manufacturing software to improve workflow and data integrity in the Class A surfaces design development process for vehicle exterior and interior components for its automotive industry customers.
These include BMW and tier one suppliers such as Magna Steyer, Intier Automotive, Valeo and Plastic Omnium.
Shape Design's seamless integration with Dassault's Catia V5 collaborative product development and manufacturing software suite and CAA V5-based PLM software was the main reason given by KS for deploying the software.
Shape Design provides intuitive tools for the creation, validation and modification of any type of surface, from freeform surfaces to complex mechanical shapes.
Having been developed on Dassault's CAA V5 software architecture, it integrates seamlessly with the Catia V5 CADCAM software suite and CAA V5-based PLM environments.
Tadeus Kischa, co-founder and co-owner of KS Engineering, said: "At the moment, we use ICEM Surf for Class A surfaces and Catia V4 and V5 for the vehicle body-in-white development process".
"With Shape Design, we will be able to use native CAA V5 data throughout the interior and exterior design development process".
