Electrolux to use software suite in the design of the aesthetic aspects of its household appliances, including cookers, refrigerators, washing machines and vacuum cleaners.

ICEM, the surface modelling, surface model validation and design visualisation software developer, has announced that its Scandinavian business partner, Nanco Data, has signed a contract with Electrolux, of Stockholm, Sweden, for the delivery and implementation of the ICEM Surf software suite The latest version of the software, ICEM Surf v4.5, will be implemented within the Electrolux design centre where it will be integrated with the company's existing CADCAM facilities and product development processes

The software will be used in the design of the aesthetic aspects of the Electrolux range of household appliances, which includes cookers, refrigerators, washing machines, vacuum cleaners and other similar electrical items.

"Our goal was to find software that provides the tools for generating aesthetic, Class A surfaces with optimum quality, at the same time as reducing the time needed to arrive at the point at which the data can be released to manufacturing", said Tove Forsberg, Lead Surfacing Engineer for Electrolux product design.

"ICEM Surf is a mature software suite with an extensive set of tools and modules that gives us exactly what we were looking for".

Patric Nilson, CEO, Nanco Data, said: "Electrolux has a long tradition of using high-end CADCAM software tools in its product development and manufacturing processes".

"Its selection of ICEM Surf confirms to us that, with this software, we have the right tools and are on the right track for those companies whose products demand Class A surfaces".
