Workshop explains power system protection
A two-day workshop, "Practical power system protection for engineers and technicians", will be held in Cardiff, Liverpool and Leeds during October 2005.
IDC Technologies is presenting a two-day workshop, "Practical power system protection for engineers and technicians", in Cardiff on 10th and 11th October, in Liverpool on 13th and 14th October and in Leeds on 24th and 25th October 2005.
This workshop has been designed to give plant operators, electricians, field technicians and engineers a better appreciation of the role played by power system protection systems.
An understanding of power systems along with correct management can significantly increase plant efficiency and performance as well as increasing safety.
The introduction covers the need for protection, fault types and their effects, simple calculations of short circuit currents and system earthing.
The workshop also includes some practical work, simple fault calculations, relay settings and the checking of a current transformer magnetisation curve.
By course end, delegates will have gained an excellent knowledge of the principles of protection, will have a better understanding of the possible problems likely to arise and finally will know where to look for answers.
