Engineering workshops in UK in February

An IDC Technologies product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jan 24, 2006

Three workshops around the UK in February cover data communications troubleshooting, OLE for process control and practical industrial flow measurement.

IDC is presenting three workshops in various centres in the UK during February.

The first is Practical Troubleshooting and Problem Solving of Industrial Data Communications, a two-day course to be run in London on the 2nd and 3rd February, in Manchester on the 6th and 7th and in Glasgow on the 9th and 10th.

The workshop aims to provide engineers and technicians with the skills to identify, prevent and troubleshoot industrial communications problems.

By the end of the course, attendees should be capable of analysing, diagnosing and fixing 60 of the most common problems that occur in industrial communication systems.

These include RS232, RS485, fibre optic, Fieldbus and Ethernet.

The second workshop, also a two-day one, is Practical Fundamentals of OLE for Process Control (OPC) and is to run in Edinburgh on the 13th and 14th February, in Manchester on the 23rd and 24th and in Cardiff on the 27th and 28th.

This workshop will describe OPC and present its applications and the skills necessary to troubleshoot OPC problems.

It is to be presented by John Lawrence, who has 20 years experience working as a project and departmental manager for a large multinational oil company.

He focused on designing and then managing the overall architecture and infrastructure of the wireless, telecoms, data communications and IT systems.

During the past five years, he has worked for multinational industrial and commercial clients managing corporate relocations and restructuring of IT and communications infrastructure.

The third workshop is Practical Industrial Flow Measurement for Engineers and Technicians, a one-day course to be run in Cardiff on 10th February, in Manchester on the 15th and in Edinburgh on the 22nd.

The existing technologies in flow measurement will be presented, together with the skills needed to specify and design flow measurement systems and troubleshoot and install flow instrumentation systems.
