Workshop addresses electrical infrastructure

An IDC Technologies product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jun 21, 2006

A 2-day workshop on "Safe operation and maintenance of circuit breakers and switchgear" will be held in in Cardiff, Manchester and Glasgow.

IDC Technologies is presenting a 2-day workshop on "Safe operation and maintenance of circuit breakers and switchgear", in Cardiff on 10th and 11th July, in Manchester on 13th and 14th July and in Glasgow on 17th and 18th July 2006.

Switchgear (and circuit breakers) are obviously critical components in electrical distribution systems and their operation significantly affects the overall operation of the system.

This two-day workshop will cover the application, installation, maintenance and testing issues relating to medium and high voltage switchgear and circuit breakers.

Low voltage switchgear will also be looked at and delegates will receive a thorough grounding in switchgear theory and standards.

Safety will be considered and discussed.

This comprehensive and practical two day workshop emphasises medium voltage switchgear which represents most of the switchgear installed on electrical distribution systems.

The focus will be on air blast, oil, SF6 and vacuum circuit breakers.

Case studies covering the main manufacturer's equipment will illustrate the important practical principles.

Other power system protection components will be discussed as well to ensure that switchgear is understood in the correct context.
