Hazardous areas for engineers and technicians

An IDC Technologies product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Oct 13, 2006

A practical workshop on "Hazardous areas for engineers and technicians" will be held in in Glasgow, Manchester and in Cardiff during November 2006.

IDC Technologies is running a practical workshop on "Hazardous areas for engineers and technicians" in Glasgow on 6th and 7th November, in Manchester on 13th and 14th November and in Cardiff on 16th and 17th November 2006.

This workshop provides delegates with an understanding of the hazards involved in using electrical equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres.

It is based on the newly adopted international IEC79 series of standards that are now replacing the older national standards.

Explosion-proof installations can be expensive to design, install and operate.

The wider approaches described in these standards can significantly reduce costs while maintaining plant safety.

The associated terminology and its correct use is explained throughout the workshop.

The workshop covers various areas ranging from area classification through to the selection of explosion protected electrical apparatus, describing how protection is achieved and maintained in line with these international requirements.

Standards require that engineering staff and their management are trained effectively and safely in hazardous areas and this workshop is designed to help fulfil that need.
