A new universal fire and gas zone module has been added to ICS Triplex's Trusted TMR (triple modular redundant) critical control and safety system.
A new universal fire and gas zone module has been added to ICS Triplex's Trusted TMR (triple modular redundant) critical control and safety system.
The module can monitor any gas, flame, smoke or heat detector or manual alarm callpoint operating with a 0-24V digital signal.
It is infinitely flexible, with any or all of its 40 channels programmable as either input or output.
This is particularly useful as it allows for easy systems configuration to provide local containment of fire or gas hazards.
The module contains unique features required by the application including line monitoring, fire and gas alarms, loop reset and a tricoloured LED for each channel, with each state being configurable.
These features are normally engineered outside of the PLC which is less reliable and more costly.
At the heart of the module is a triplicated digital signal processor (DSP), the main function of which is to process the input and output signals for the TMR control.
It is also used for testing, sequence of event recording and running local programmes for its associate zone and thus provides complete field status to the main system displays without the need for a central processor.

This fault-tolerant technology virtually eliminates spurious trips and plant shutdowns, so that production availability is never unnecessarily compromised with consequent impacts on the overall cost of ownership.

Dual Ethernet and Modbus interfacing, OPC compliant communication software, familiar IEC61131-3 configuration languages and extensive configurability offers significant savings in engineering time and cost.
