Beta testers wanted for IEC61499 software

ICS Triplex is set to release a beta version of ISaGRAF 5.0, the world's first commercially available IEC61499 automation software.
For the past 18-months the ICS Triplex ISaGRAF team has been engaged in the development of the next level of control software, and on 30th May 2005 the company will officially release a beta version of ISaGRAF 5.0, the world's first commercially available IEC61499 automation software.
ISaGRAF 5.0 represents natural evolution of the world-renowned ISaGRAF technology by offering exciting new features, more flexibility for partner solutions integration and most notably, compliance with the IEC61499 standard.
Developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), IEC61499 presents guidelines for the use of function blocks in distributed industrial process, measurement and control systems.
ISaGRAF 5.0 offers unparalleled functionality and benefits by incorporating both the IEC61131-3 and IEC61499 standards.
With ISaGRAF 5.0, users will have the ability to build traditional control systems where the interactions between devices will automatically be regulated and synchronised by the IEC61499 function block diagrams rather than through the use of manually implemented algorithms.
ISaGRAF 5.0 also benefits from the famous TIC technology integral to the previous versions of ISaGRAF.
The TIC technology enables the control engine to be implemented on any hardware platform (embedded, Motorola, Intel, ARM etc) and on any operating system (Win XP, CE, 2000, Linux, VxWorks, QNX etc) and can be used to build automation devices such as tiny controllers, RTUs, PLCs, DCSs and safety systems.
In fact, in using ISaGRAF 5.0, any field device manufacturer will have the ability to turn their equipment into an IEC61499 product.
For example, intelligent flow meters can act as a regulator and control a valve while being part of an integrated distributed control system.
The ISaGRAF 5.0 beta version will be initially offered to a limited set of ICS Triplex ISaGRAF partners.
