Automation software achieves IEC61499 compliance
Version 5.1 of ISaGRAF has been confirmed by TUV Rheinland to be compliant with the requirements detailed in the IEC61499 standard.
"Most of the key players in IEC61499 research were in attendance", says Dr Brennan.
"The paper was very well received".
"Researchers have been applying the IEC61499 standard to distributed intelligent control problems for several years now", states Julien Chouinard, Managing Director of ICS Triplex ISaGRAF.
"The challenge now is to see how the standard implements into real-world industrial applications".
"One of the greatest stumbling blocks was a lack of software tools for the industrial automation and control developers".
"The release of ISaGRAF 5.0 has filled that void".
The white paper "Software for next generation automation and control" is co-authored by Julien Chouinard, Managing Director of ICS Triplex ISaGRAF, and Dr Robert W Brennan from the Schulich School of Engineering of the University of Alberta.
The paper touches on topics such as requirements for the next-generation of automation and control, the IEC61499 standard itself, and the IEC61499-compliant ISaGRAF 5.0 software development environment.
A full version of the white paper is available from the ICS Triplex ISaGRAF website.
