Automation software evolution sees key advances

An ISaGRAF product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Dec 4, 2006

The ICS Triplex ISaGRAF team has been developing some key enhancements to the popular ISaGRAF 5, the world's first commercially available IEC 61499 automation software

The company has released a beta version of ISaGRAF 5.3.

ISaGRAF 5.3 provides a unified development environment for the ISaGRAF installed base.

Users will now have the ability to program and support the entire range of ISaGRAF controllers (controllers from ISaGRAF versions 3, 4 and 5) using the same development environment.

Now, an ISaGRAF 3 application can be created, compiled, debugged, simulated, downloaded and monitored.

No modification to the ISaGRAF 3.x controller is required.

ISaGRAF 5.3 also includes the new uFirmware Development Toolkit to address the microcontroller market.

As with previous ISaGRAF 5 versions, ISaGRAF 5.3 incorporates both the IEC 61131-3 and IEC 61499 standards.

Users can build traditional control systems where the interactions between devices will automatically be regulated and synchronized by the IEC 61499 function block diagrams rather than through the use of manually implemented algorithms.

The ISaGRAF 5.3 beta version will be initially offered to a limited set of ICS Triplex ISaGRAF partners.

Those organisations wishing to take part in the beta testing are invited to contact the ICS Triplex ISaGRAF applications and support team.

ISaGRAF is fully compliant with both IEC 61499 and IEC 61131 industrial standards and can be used to build a variety of automation products including embedded controllers, DCS, PLC, RTU, CNC and motion controllers.

ISaGRAF sustains a high level of standardisation, integration and communication within modern automation systems, resulting in high end, real time open control systems with crash proof reliability, powerful performance and flexibility.
