Following on from the launch of the Idec PLC Pentra range, the company has introduced two new analogue modules that are also compatible with the MicroSmart PLC family.

The main improvement is module density.

With only two channels available on the earlier MicroSmart analogue inputs this has been significantly improved to eight for the FC4A-J8C1 resulting in a considerable reduction in cost per channel.

The FC4A-J8C1 has 16bit resolution, offers voltage and current input and with a system transfer time of only 6ms per channel which when coupled with the speed of the Pentra CPU (0.056us per basic instruction) means that high speed analogue readings are achievable.

A two channel voltage/current output module has also been introduced, again with 16bit resolution.

This has a transfer time of only 1ms per channel.

The introduction of these modules has ensured that lower cost analogue capability is now a feature of the Idec MicroSmart and Pentra PLC ranges at a performance comparable with any of the competition.
