PLCs offer speed boost

An IDEC Electronics product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 7, 2008

The speed of movement of analogue data into and out of the MicroSmart or Pentra programmable controller has considerably increased.

Idec has upgraded the original two and three-channel analogue and thermocouple Idec PLC Pentra and MicroSmart modules These modules are available in the following combinations: two in/one out voltage/current, two in voltage/current, two in thermocouple/resistance thermometer, two out voltage/current and one out voltage/current.

The sampling duration time has been cut from 20 to 10ms, the total input system transfer time has been cut from 105 to 60ms and the total output system transfer time has been reduced from 50 to 10ms.

Also the resolution of the thermocouple module has been improved from 12 to 14 bits, giving an accuracy of one part in 16,384.

The modules are also less susceptible to electrical interference when operating in harsh environments.

The speed of movement of analogue data into and out of the MicroSmart or Pentra programmable controller has considerably increased.

Faster response allow greater accuracy of analogue data.
