IDM Electronics introduces the Model 215, an ultra-compact, 2-channel Fibre Optic Rotary Joint (FORJ) manufactured by its sister company - Focal Technologies Corporation.

Passive and bi-directional, it allows the transfer of signals on two separate multimode optical fibres across rotational interfaces.

It is particularly suited to remote I/O in industrial machinery, cranes, indexing tables, robotics, materials handling systems, turrets, video surveillance systems, sensor platforms, cable reeling applications and communication links.

There are also a host of military uses where there is a need for large amounts of data, dual redundancy or extra security.

More and more frequently, a single channel is not sufficient for the increased bandwidth required for these applications.

The Model 215 is an extremely compact unit, thanks to the patented tandem optics.

It can also be combined with other IDM electrical and fluid slip rings to provide a compact package for optical signals, electrical power and fluid transfer.

The Model 215 is available with a variety of connection options and with a choice of fibre sizes and types.

The exterior surfaces are stainless steel, the temperature rating covers -40 to +60 deg C and crosstalk is less than -40 dB.
