The Model 286 miniature fibre-optic rotary joint is a compact and lightweight device used to transfer high-speed data across rotational interfaces.

The Model 286 miniature fibre-optic rotary joint is a compact and lightweight device used to transfer high-speed data across rotational interfaces With a body diameter of only 9.5mm and a length of 14mm, the new joint is much smaller than traditional slip ring products and is particularly suitable for applications where size and weight are critical

The Model 286 is a single-pass, multimode fibre-optic rotary joint that provides an extremely cost effective solution for high-bandwidth optical signals.

It is passive and bidirectional, and its robust stainless-steel construction, precision bearings and high-quality optics ensure exceptional performance and reliability even in the most demanding environments.

Based on fibre-optic technology, the Model 286 presents a low spark hazard and has complete immunity to electromagnetic interference.

These characteristics make it suitable for a wide variety of applications, especially in difficult and hazardous areas including undersea telemetry, remotely operated vehicles, radar antennas, streamers and cable reels for military and commercial use.

Manufactured by Focal Technologies in Canada, the new Model 286 is part of a comprehensive range of miniature and industrial slip rings, optical joints and multiplexers, available from IDM Electronics.
