Diversified Plastics buys Haas machining centre

A Diversified Plastics product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jun 4, 2009

Diversified Plastics has expanded its mould production capabilities and increased its production with the acquisition of a high-speed, high-accuracy machining centre from Haas Automation.

The VM-2 vertical milling machine allows the Design Tool and Engineering subsidiary of Diversified Plastics to produce high-quality moulds with a fine surface finish.

The company is able to produce very small, high-precision injection-moulded parts used in the medical device and aerospace industries.

With a positional accuracy of +/- 0.0002in, the machine can create complex mould designs for a multitude of industries.

'This machine has significantly increased our capacity in fine machining,' said Annette Lund, vice-president at Diversified Plastics.

'The machine's high-speed processing, along with the ability to change tools in less than three seconds and run lights out, or unattended, has given us another competitive advantage.

'It has also allowed us to decrease our tooling lead times and be more responsive to our customer's needs,' added Lund.
