Moiseiwitsch sets policy for IEE

The IEE has appointed Dr Nicholas Moiseiwitsch as Head of Engineering Policy.

The IEE (Institution of Electrical Engineers) has appointed Dr Nicholas Moiseiwitsch as Head of Engineering Policy He joins the IEE from the Department of Trade and Industry where he has worked in a number of roles, including Private Secretary to the Chief Scientific Advisor (Lord May of Oxford, then Professor David King), and most recently Assistant Director for Consumers and Competitive Markets

His appointment to the IEE is part of a three-year secondment from the DTI.

Moiseiwitsch was educated at the Methodist College, Belfast, and gained a BEng in electronic engineering in 1990 and a PhD in microelectronics in 1994, both from the University of Southampton.

He remained there as a research fellow, joining the DTI in 1998 and qualifying as a chartered engineer in the same year.

In his role as the IEE's Head of Engineering Policy, he will be responsible for the assessment and formulation of IEE policy views on major issues of relevance to the profession, including some 30 submissions made each year to the government.

He said: "This is an exciting opportunity to join Europe's largest professional engineering organisation and ensure that the IEE has a voice with the Government and the outside world.
