Chief Executive of the IEE, Dr Alf Roberts believes the awards underline the IEE's dedication to excellence in innovation: "The IEE Innovation in Engineering Awards build on the IEE's commitment to promote and encourage technological advancement by recognising pioneering work undertaken by forward thinking companies".
This sentiment is echoed by the impressive list of sponsors involved including: ABB, Anglia Components, BT, Marconi, Mentor Graphics, RS Components, QinetiQ, National Instruments and Sony.
Individuals and organisations are invited to submit for awards in the sectors of manufacturing, electronics, transport, information technology, security, telecommunications, power, robotics and control, and electrical technologies.
Entries must describe an innovative engineering project, product or process for commercial use that demonstrates genuine novelty and represents a significant technological advance.
In addition there are a further six cross-disciplinary categories including project team, emerging technologies, product design and sustainability.
A panel of recognised industry leaders, experts and representatives of the sponsoring organisations will judge entries in each category.
Prominent individuals who have agreed to chair the judging panels include: Internet pioneer Sir Tim Berners-Lee, ARM Executive Chairman Sir Robin Saxby, QinetiQ Chief Executive Sir John Chisholm, Director of the Design Museum Alice Rawsthorne, Chief Executive of BOC Edwards Dr Raj Rajagopal, and IEE President Prof John O'Reilly.
The awards presentation will be hosted by Kate Bellingham, former presenter of "Tomorrow's World".
This is an excellent opportunity for innovative, progressive companies to get the recognition they deserve from one of the largest engineering and technology institutions in the world.
The closing date for submissions is Wednesday 15th June and full information and online entry forms are available from the IEE website. Request free introductory details about products from Institution of Engineering and Technology ...
