Innovation awards open for nominations
Entries are now being invited for the IEE Innovation in Engineering Awards, which will be presented at a gala ceremony at the IEE HQ, Savoy Place, London on 11th October 2006.
Innovation guru and TV personality Adam Hart-Davis has thrown out a challenge to companies to prove that they are at the forefront of innovation.
Speaking at the launch of the annual IEE Innovation in Engineering Awards he said: "The UK has a great tradition of innovation and I look forward to seeing how today's companies are meeting the challenge of creating and implementing effective ideas".
Entries are now being invited for the IEE Innovation in Engineering Awards, which will be presented at a gala ceremony at the IEE HQ, Savoy Place, London on 11th October 2006.
These are the only multisector awards dedicated to recognising outstanding innovation in engineering.
Hart-Davis believes that the Innovation Awards are an important showcase of the most outstanding companies and individuals in industry: "Innovation is the life-blood of a strong economy and it is imperative that we acknowledge and reward the pioneering work undertaken by forward thinking companies", he said.
"In the past innovations in the areas of IT, communication technology and transport have completely revolutionised our lifestyles and it's exciting to have a glimpse into the way current innovations will impact our futures".
The event has once again attracted a host of prominent sponsors and the awards will be judged by a panel of recognised industry leaders, experts and representatives of the sponsoring organisations.
Individuals and organisations are invited to submit for awards in the sectors of asset management, electronics, emerging technologies, IT, manufacturing, power, product design, project team, robotics and control, security, sustainability, telecommunications and transport.
In addition 2006 will see four new categories including asset management, built environment, software design and startups.
Entries must describe an innovative engineering project, product or process for commercial use that demonstrates genuine novelty and represents a significant technological advance.
This is an excellent opportunity for innovative, progressive companies to get the recognition they deserve from one of the largest engineering and technology institutions in the world.
The closing date for entries is 30th June 2006 and entry forms are available from the IEE website.
