The Institution of Engineering and Technology is holding an event on wireless sensor networks in London on Monday 4th December 2006 Developments in computing, sensor and wireless communications have made it both technologically feasible and economically viable to develop low-power smart sensor nodes that collaborate among themselves to establish a sensor network

A sensor network can provide access to a wide range of information by collecting, processing, analysing and disseminating data, which eventually results in a smart environment.

This event will focus on fundamental challenges arising in the design and implementation of wireless sensor networks.

It will provide a cross-disciplinary session for researchers in both academia and industry addressing challenges in the vast area of sensor networks to interact and exchange results, network, share ideas and form collaborations.

Speakers include: Brian Hoyle, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Leeds, UK; Professor Kevin Warwick, School of Systems Engineering, University of Reading, UK; Dr Derek Babb, Research Fellow, Centre for Communications Research, University of Surrey, UK; and Dr Tim Kindberg, Senior Researcher, HP Labs Bristol, UK.
