Seminar on "Competence assessment and professional development for asset managers" to be held at the University of Warwick.

The Institution of Engineering and Technology seminar on "Competence assessment and professional development for asset managers" will be held at the University of Warwick, UK on 23rd November 2006.

Most large infrastructure owners have created, or are in the process of creating, Asset Management teams with responsibility for developing and delivering Asset Management plans and demonstrating improvements in overall efficiency and performance.

Typically, this involves shifting from traditional engineering cultures focused on individual disciplines to a multidisciplinary environment focused on the asset management lifecycle.

Asset managers are a new breed, poorly served as yet by formal educational programmes, corporate or professional body professional development schemes.

Rapidly increasing demand for asset managers requires an equally rapid response from businesses, educators and professional bodies alike.

This response needs to deliver short-term benefits to businesses which require additional capability today, together with the development programmes needed to support and sustain business performance in the medium term.

This seminar will provide an overview of the IAM's competences framework project, best practice approaches and an opportunity to share experiences with similar organisations from other sectors.

The conference will also provide an opportunity to announce the adoption of the IET Career Manager product as the vehicle for managing the IAM competency framework.
