Measurement prize opens for entries

The winner of the IET Measurement Prize 2007 will receive a cash prise of GBP 1000 as well as a certificate of recognition and a medal.

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is calling for entries for its Measurement Prize 2007.

The IET Measurement Prize, which is sponsored by the National Physical Laboratory, is given for an outstanding contribution to the science, art or practice of measurement using electrical, electronic or electromagnetic techniques.

It is open to anyone who has contributed in a scientific way to the practice of measurement.

Individuals or groups can nominate themselves or alternatively, an individual or group can be nominated by an organisation or those with knowledge in the subject area.

The closing date for nominations is Friday 27th July 2007.

The winner will receive a cash prise of GBP 1000 as well as a certificate of recognition and a medal.

The Measurement Prize will be presented at the annual Wheatstone Measurement Lecture on 5th December at Savoy Place, London.

This will provide a great opportunity to showcase the winner's work to a distinguished audience.

Managing Director of NPL, Steve McQuillan, said: "It is difficult to imagine life without measurement and the pursuit of improving measurement science is critical in so many areas".

"We look forward to seeing how new techniques have been employed in the pursuit of improving measurement through this prize".
