Engineering awards finalists announced

The IET awards winners will be announced on 13th November at London's Marriot Hotel, Grosvenor Square

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has announced the short-list of finalists for its annual Innovation in Engineering Awards.

The Innovation in Engineering Awards is the only multi-disciplinary awards across engineering and technology.

Among the finalists are: BT Group, Ipswich, UK, "Re-feedback - improving bandwidth allocation in the internet"; The University of Manchester, Manchester, UK, "Barratt EcoSmart Show Village"; and the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Tamil Nadu, India, "Design and development of phased array imager for detecting breast cancer using diffuse optical tomography".

The winners will be announced at an awards evening on 13th November at London's Marriot Hotel, Grosvenor Square, at a ceremony being hosted by Johnny Ball.

The 15 categories in this year's awards are: asset management; built environment; control, instrumentation and robotics; electronics; emerging technologies; IT; power/energy; project design; project team; security; software design; start up; sustainability; telecommunications and transport.
