Potential entrants in the Institution of Engineering and Technology's Innovation Awards have until 25th July to submit their entries.

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has made the final call for entries to its Innovation Awards.

The IET Innovation Awards are open to anyone who feels they have an innovative solution to a problem or can come up with an idea which is imaginative and inspiring.

Spanning 15 categories, innovators have until 25th July to submit their entries.

The awards represent an opportunity for industry innovators to be recognised and provide a showcase for the brightest ideas, highlighting the importance of innovation by celebrating its application across a range of engineering disciplines.

Entries will be judged by a panel of industry leaders and experts who are looking for an innovative engineering project, product or process for commercial use that demonstrates genuine novelty and represents a significant technological advance for the industry or technology sector.

Full details and online entry forms are available on the IET website.

IET Chief Executive, Robin McGill, said, "Innovation is about recognising relevant market needs and opportunities and generating bright ideas to make these a reality".

"We're looking for true entrepreneurs, not in a financial sense but in the sense that they are prepared to take risks, seize opportunities and develop a vision into technology that can change lives".

This year the IET Awards ceremony will take place on Monday 3rd November, 2008 at the Park Plaza Riverbank, London.

The event will be hosted by Maggie Philbin, who currently covers technology for BBC Breakfast News on their regular Tomorrow's World features, having spent 10 years on the science programme of the same name.
