IET signs up to the CEO charter

An Institution of Engineering and Technology product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Oct 29, 2008

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has signed up to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) charter which helps ensure more women are attracted to science, engineering and technology.

In the UK, more than 500,000 women are qualified to work in engineering, science and technology, but less than a third actually do.

Following a severe shortage of women, the UK Resource Centre for women in Science, Engineering and Technology (UKRC) has launched a CEO charter for women in SET industries across the UK.

Since its launch in March 2007, more than 40 companies have signed up to the charter.

IET also presents the Young Women Engineer of the Year Award, which celebrates the achievements of female engineers under the age of 30.
