IET announces weekly news bulletin

An Institution of Engineering and Technology product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Apr 24, 2009

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has launched a weekly news bulletin reporting science, engineering and technology stories.

IET communications chief, Mary Donovan, hosts the three-minute round-up, which is available on demand from desktops.

This week's bulletin includes stories on how the IET-backed Pitcom competition for primary schoolchildren has seen a 50 per cent uptake by schools.

The aim of Pitcom is to get young people interested in IT from an early age.

There's also news on how engineering has a central role to play in the recovery of the economy.

IET president, Chris Earnshaw, will be sharing the podium with Phil Willis MP, chairman of DIUS select committee at the Scitech conference on 30 April.

Chris's address will be entitled 'Engineering the Future'.

The bulletin also reports on the 40th anniversary of the IET's Inspec database, which contains over 10 million bibliographic abstracts and indexing to journal articles, conference proceedings, technical reports and other literature in the fields of science and technology.
