The ACT-457A 5.7in RISC-based access control terminal with built-in RFID reader is now available from IEI Technology.
The ACT-457A works with EM or Mifare cards and tags and is suitable for access control systems on residential accommodation and for light commercial and small industrial applications.
The ACT-457A is an all-in-one access controller and proximity reader with Microsoft Windows CE5.0 pre-installed, enabling it to be set-up and programmed without an additional on-site computer.
It has a 5.7in colour touch display with a resolution of 640 x 480.
The integrated Media Acceleration Engine of the RMI Alchemy chip allows playback of DVD quality video efficiently at full frame rates with low power consumption.
Common digital video media including MPEG1, 2, 4, DivX, and WMV9 are all supported, and playback at full D1 resolution does not require a DSP or specialised coding.
The case of the ACT terminal is made from hard plastic and the front panel is IP64 compliant.
With anti-shock and anti-vibration shields and extended temperature range design for -10C-55C, the ACT-457A is secured against vandalism and protected against extreme environmental conditions.
Multimedia, two-way communication is essential for home automation.
The ACT-457A has built-in 2W speakers, bi-directional microphone and 300K pixel webcam with low-light capabilities for real-time image capture and facial identification.
Some applications of the ACT-457A include cashless payment systems in vending machines, club membership management systems and RFID automated parking control systems.
