Low prices, speedy installation and easy adjustment are just some of the key benefits which make the new OL range of opto sensors from IFM Electronic an attractive and cost-effective choice for virtually every OEM application The new range includes through-beam, retro-reflective, diffuse reflection and high-precision laser sensors, all of which feature a novel two-part rectangular housing

This allows the base to be installed quickly and easily and, on cable versions, provides unrestricted access to the terminals for wiring.

With the base installed, the electronic section of the sensor simply plugs in.

The sensors are available in both cabled and M12-connector versions with a choice of cable orientations.

They can be installed using standard mounting brackets, making it easy to incorporate them into existing designs with a minimum of changes.

Alternatively, they can be used in conjunction with IFM's versatile quick-adjust clamp mounting system, which allows the sensor to be rotated a full 360 in two mutually perpendicular axes by slackening a single screw.

To ensure simple and accurate adjustment, OL sensors incorporate IFM's new touch-to-teach setting technology.

Users simply press a button once with the target in place, then again with no target, and the sensor automatically adjusts itself for optimum performance.

In laser versions, beam modulation is turned off during the setting operation, increasing beam brightness, and making it easily visible for use as an aid to sensor and target alignment.

As a further aid to setting, OL opto sensors incorporate three LED indicators, giving instant visual confirmation of power supply, output and correct functional status.

For convenience, the output status LED is duplicated on the front of the sensor, as well as at the rear.

OL opto sensors can be supplied in DC-only or universal AC/DC versions.

DC-only models are intended for use on supplies of between 10V and 36V, and are offered with either PNP or NPN transistor outputs.

A separate function-check output is provided to confirm that the sensor is operating well within its reliable sensing range.

AC/DC models in the OL range can be used on any AC or DC supply between 20V and 250V, without adjustment or setting.

They are provided with a single relay output, with contacts rated 3A at 250V AC, and 5A at 24V DC.

All OL opto sensors can be programmed by the user for dark-on or light-on operation.
