Solid-state cost-effectiveness in pressure sensors

An IFM Electronic product story

EPS solid-state pressure sensors offer the benefits of high accuracy, easy setting and excellent reliability, combined with the ability to withstand high levels of transient and static overpressure

Offering the benefits of high accuracy, easy setting and excellent reliability, combined with the ability to withstand high levels of transient and static overpressure, the new EPS solid-state pressure sensors from sensing and control expert, IFM Electronic, are an ideal and very cost-effective alternative to electromechanical pressure switches in virtually every application.

The new sensors feature compact stainless-steel bodies with an IP67 protection rating, making them suitable for use in even the most demanding environments.

Setup is easily achieved via the sensor's cable, and requires no mechanical adjustment of the sensor, eliminating the possibility of unauthorised tampering.

As a further aid to accurate adjustment, and to access advanced functions, an optional plug-in programmer is offered.

This has an integral pressure display which makes it unnecessary to use a separate pressure gauge to achieve precise settings.

In most applications, the programmer is unplugged for use again elsewhere when adjustment is complete.

It may, however, remain connected for use when a convenient remote pressure display is required, or for frequent adjustment of set-points and other parameters.

The new EPS pressure sensors use IFM's proven ceramic-cell pressure sensing technology which eliminates the need for springs, bellows and other moving parts, resulting in a sensor which is exceptionally robust and totally maintenance-free.

The sensors are equally suitable for hydraulic and pneumatic applications, and are available to cover pressure ranges from 0 to 10 bar, 0 to 25 bar, 0 to 100 bar, 0 to 250 bar, and 0 to 400 bar.

All models are designed for operation from DC supplies in the range 9.6V to 30V, and all have two fully protected switching outputs rated at 250mA.

Switching hysteresis for both outputs is fully adjustable, which means that, in many applications, one EPS sensor can do the work of two conventional pressure switches.
