Installing shaft encoders is
plug-and-play
An integral Profibus DP interface means that installing the new compact RMU and RMV absolute shaft encoders from IFM Electronic is virtually a plug-and-play operation.

Gateways take control of AS-i slaves
AS-i gateways come with M4 master profile support for all AS-i slaves from specifications 1.0 to 3.0.
Capacitive sensors can see through walls
Sensors from are optimised for the detection of conductive media through nonmetallic walls or on bypasses.
Mechanical fitting is also made easy by the use of standard flanges which allow RMU and RMV encoders to replace older types, without the need to modify existing equipment.
Ideal for use in both positioning and speed detection applications, RMU encoders have a synchro-type flange, while the flange of RMV types is suitable for clamp-mounting.
Both models feature an exceptionally compact design, and have an IP64 protection rating, making them ideal for use in virtually every industrial application.

Stainless steel sensors survive metal contact
The R series will last significantly longer than conventional sensors and the coating will withstand the abrasion for longer than conventional coatings.
Stainless steel housings protect proximity sensors
The new additions to IFM Electronic's efector T series are probably the only all-stainless steel sensors with an operating temperature as high as 100C.
Since RMU and RMV products are absolute, rather than incremental, encoders, they provide accurate positional information immediately upon application of power, without the need for any time-consuming zeroing or reference operations.
Maximum resolution is 25 bits, and the encoder output can be scaled within the unit to suit the precise needs of the application.
To ensure maximum ease of use, RMU and RMV encoders can be programmed to count up with either direction of rotation, and so that the zero point corresponds with any required shaft position.
Other user-programmable features of these versatile units include preset values, limit switch functions, and running indication.
A Profibus Class 2 profile means that immediate processing is possible for these local functions.
Powerful diagnostic facilities are also implemented in IFM Electronics' new Profibus DP encoders.
These include alarm and warning functions, operational status data available via the bus connection, and local LED status indication.
IFM Electronic specialises in the application of advanced electronic technology to produce innovative and effective solutions for industrial control applications.
Products include flow sensors; pressure transmitters and switches; temperature switches and transmitters; capacitive, inductive and photoelectric proximity sensors; and a full range of AS-i I/O modules and masters.
IFM is committed to working closely with its customers to develop products which precisely match their needs, and the company provides expert, readily accessible technical support to help users maximise the benefits they gain from IFM products. Request a free brochure from IFM Electronic ...
