Distributed controller has power to
stand alone

The Controller E incorporates up to two AS-i masters, together with 128Kword of program memory, an RS232 port and an optional Profibus-DP interface.

Ideal for incorporation into modern distributed control systems, yet powerful and versatile enough for use as a stand-alone programmable controller, the new Controller E from IFM Electronic incorporates up to two AS-i masters, together with 128Kword of program memory, an RS232 port and an optional Profibus-DP interface To ensure maximum performance and compatibility, AS-i masters in the new controllers fully support all of the AS-i 2.1 extensions, including the extended addressing mode which allows up to 62 slaves to be connected to each master, and facilities for the easy connection of analogue modules without the need to use function blocks

The built-in PLC functions provided by Controller E allow rapid processing of AS-i data without loading the field bus.

This is a particularly useful feature in applications where fast response is needed, or where frequent changes in process states would otherwise generate a high level of bus traffic.

Integral graphical and LED displays allow the operational status of the controller to be checked instantly, and the displays can also be used to show user-defined messages.

In many applications, this means that the expense and additional complication of a separate MMI unit is not needed.

The display system is additionally used by the controller's advanced diagnostic facilities which, for example, provide automatic detection and reporting of missing AS-i slaves.

Ease of use in the widest possible range of applications is ensured by Controller E's support for no fewer than five popular programming languages - ladder diagram, function block diagram, instruction list, statement list and sequential function chart.

Programming is carried out with the aid of a user-friendly software package which will run on any modern PC.

IFM Electronic Controller E AS-i controllers can be supplied with either one or two AS-i masters, and either without a Profibus interface for standalone applications, or with a Profibus interface for use in distributed control applications.

The largest units in the range support up to 124 AS-i slaves, corresponding to 248 analogue values, or 496 digital inputs plus 372 outputs. Request a free brochure from IFM Electronic ...
