AS-i modules take analogue inputs
onboard

A new range of plug-and-play analogue I/O modules extends the simplicity and reliability of the AS-i fieldbus system to installations with analogue signal handling requirements.

The new range of IP65 and IP20 plug-and-play analogue input and output modules from sensing and control expert, IFM Electronic, extends the simplicity and reliability for which the AS-i fieldbus system has become known, to include installations with analogue signal handling requirements The new units are automatically recognised by AS-i masters conforming with the 2.1 standard, and no special software or setup is needed to use them

IFM is offering IP65 plug-and-play analogue AS-i modules in a range of input and output types to suit all applications.

Input modules for use with 0 to 10V signals, and 0 or 4 to 20mA signals, provide two channels, while modules for use with Pt100 temperature sensors offer four channels.

Additionally, the Pt100 units automatically scale the signal so that it reads directly in centigrade degrees.

Output modules in the range are available for 0 to 10V, and 0 or 4 to 20mA operation.

The IP65 ingress protection rating of these modules means that they are suitable for field mounting without further protection, even in demanding environments.

PG cable access glands and screw-clamp terminals ensure easy wiring for the field devices, while the use of AS-i standard insulation-displacement connectors for the fieldbus connections makes installing the units fast and straightforward.

Also available are IP20-rated modules for mounting within control panels, which are offered in input and output versions for use with 0 to 10V, and 0 or 4 to 20mA signals.

Each of these panel-mounting modules offers four input or four output channels in a compact housing, providing substantial space and cost savings compared with the two-channel modules offered by others.

All of IFM's new analogue modules support enhanced AS-i diagnostic functions.

They incorporate two LED status indicators for each channel, one to confirm the correct operation of the connected peripheral device, the other to show that the module is communicating correctly with the AS-i master.

Addressing for IFM's new analogue modules can conveniently be carried out prior to installation or, with the use of suitable accessories, the modules can be programmed in situ.

The units are an ideal complement to the wide range of analogue output sensors in the IFM range, which includes pressure, temperature and flow types. Request a free brochure from IFM Electronic ...
