Monitors keep tabs on compressed air
consumption
Metris compressed air flow monitors provide a convenient and cost-effective way of monitoring compressed air consumption.
The new Metris compressed air flow monitors from IFM Electronic provide a convenient and cost-effective way of monitoring compressed air consumption, making it easy for users to ensure that this expensive resource is used effectively and economically Metris monitors are compact units designed for straightforward inline installation, and have integral displays which give an instant on-the-spot readout of air flow rate

Gateways take control of AS-i slaves
AS-i gateways come with M4 master profile support for all AS-i slaves from specifications 1.0 to 3.0.
Capacitive sensors can see through walls
Sensors from are optimised for the detection of conductive media through nonmetallic walls or on bypasses.
The displays may also be used to show peak flow rate or accumulated consumption, and they are also used as an aid for entering setpoints and other operating parameters.
In addition to the built-in displays, the monitors also feature analogue outputs to facilitate remote monitoring, pulse outputs to make it easy for external equipment to record total consumption, and switched outputs which provide an immediate indication if the flow rate exceeds a preset, user-defined value.
IFM's innovative Metris compressed air flow monitors are offered in two versions, one covering flow rates from 4 to 1250Nl/min, the other covering flow rates from 12.5 to 3750Nl/min.
For both models, the operating point for the switching output can be set over virtually the whole of the operating range, allowing small changes in flow, which may, for example, be caused by leaks, to be readily detected.
As a further aid to precision, the analogue output span can be adjusted, so that the whole of the 0 to 10V output signal range relates to the band of pressures which are of particular interest.
To ensure long-term reliability, high accuracy, and a fast response time, Metris compressed air monitors use sensing elements which operate on the calorimetric principle, and which have no moving parts.
All measurements are scaled to standard units - Nl/min or Nm3/h - and all are automatically compensated for variations in temperature and pressure.
IFM Electronic specialises in the application of advanced electronic technology to produce innovative and effective solutions for industrial control applications.
Products include flow sensors; pressure transmitters and switches; temperature switches and transmitters; capacitive, inductive and photoelectric proximity sensors; and a full range of AS-i I/O modules and masters. Request a free brochure from IFM Electronic ...
