Powerful, with an intuitive menu and meaningful graphic display, the new OO5000 series amplifiers from IFM Electronic show the way for the future The amplifiers - which accept readily available, standard acrylic fibres - have two, four, six or eight channels, but always only one connecting cable, will give greater range than earlier fibre-optic amplifiers

As much as 300mm can be attained with a diffuse fibre head, or 800mm in a through-beam without addon lenses.

Big buttons set below the large display make setup simple.

In operation, the single large display shows the status of all channels at once with neat bargraphs, while digital setting of each individual setpoint gives tremendous accuracy.

The sensor itself works out the best switching performance and frequency and displays it without requiring the user to select a mode beforehand.

Logic functions are built in, so users can trigger an output only when another is also made, or not made as they choose.

Additionally, one fibre can be assigned two switch points, allowing a window function, for example for level control or to differentiate between two different products.

Naturally, light-on or dark-on functions can be programmed, and the setting can be locked to avoid unwanted tampering.
