Inductive sensors come in small packages
IFM Electronic continues to develop inductive sensors in small packages with greater sensing ranges than before.
Especially in assembly automation where space is confined, sensors need to be small enough to fit but give the optimum in sensing performance IFM Electronic continues to develop inductive sensors in small packages with greater sensing ranges than before

Gateways take control of AS-i slaves
AS-i gateways come with M4 master profile support for all AS-i slaves from specifications 1.0 to 3.0.
Take, for example, the new IZ series: with a diameter of only 4mm, and a length of 23mm these inductive sensors can detect a steel target at 1.2mm even mounted flush.
The new IY series have the same characteristics but in an M5 threaded housing.
The slightly larger IT series are only 6.5mm in diameter but can sense up to 4mm, as can the new IE unit, both in a length of only 30mm which including a connector.
These units are all constructed in stainless steel and sealed to IP67, so the environment need not be a hindrance.
Moving up the scale a little, but none the less useful for assembly automation, IFM now also supplies inductive M12 and M18 sensors with the M8 connector, common in the field of automated assembly, so there is no need to mix connector sizes when a larger sensor is required.
