Modules simplify sensor interfacing

An IFM Electronic product story

CompactLine field modules can now be used in assembly automation areas where space is at a premium.

Now into its second decade, the Actuator-Sensor Interface (AS-i) has established itself in many areas of production.

One of the main advantages of AS-i is the reduction in wiring with the dramatic cost saving which that brings.

The number of wires is reduced and wiring faults are virtually eliminated.

Recently introduced by sensor market leader and AS-i founder member IFM Electronic, field modules can now be used in assembly automation areas where space is at a premium.

These CompactLine modules feature M8 input connectors, complementing sensors in automated assembly, and leading to a module small enough to be easily tucked away on the machine.

Now that safety devices can also be incorporated into AS-i, the whole concept becomes even more cost effective.

Interfaces to all common PLCs and bus systems make integration and standardisation not only easy, but desirable.
