Wetline sensors stand up to harsh conditions

An IFM Electronic product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jan 21, 2009

IFM Electronic has launched the Wetline sensor range, with diffuse, through-beam and retro-reflective versions that can withstand extreme conditions.

Repeatedly simmered at 80C and then plunged into ice water in an accelerated test, the devices lasted weeks of simulated operation.

The new WetLine devices are fitted with an industry standard M12 connector.

The new WetLine devices are fitted with an industry standard M12 connector.

This represents years of operation on, for example, a cheese production line, being hosed down with high-pressure hot water and cleaning agents at regular intervals.

To reduce ingress points, these M18 sensors all have fixed range and function, so for diffuse object sensors there are three variants with 100mm, 200mm and 300mm ranges.

The retro-reflective units work up to 4m and through-beam reach 20m.

All devices are constructed completely of food-grade stainless steel, apart from the EPDM seals and polycarbonate lenses.

All Wetline devices are fitted with an industry-standard M12 connector.

IFM manufactures and supplies a range of connecting cables, the EVT series, equally suited to the rigours of washdown.

There is also a wide range of stainless steel mounting accessories for a stable installation.
