LR8 level sensor monitors water-based media

An IFM Electronic product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 11, 2009

The LR8 series guided-wave radar level sensor is now available from IFM Electronic and is suitable for level monitoring of water-based media, such as cleaning solutions or coolants.

The LR8 series features probe lengths to suit small tanks up to larger vessels.

The probes themselves, of which there are seven different lengths from 240mm up to 1.6m, can be cut to length by the user to fit any container.

The sensor unit features four separate outputs to allow indication of normal high and low levels, plus extra information on alarm run-dry or overflow levels.

Each one of the four outputs can be independently set with any one of four functions: hysteresis function, normally open or normally closed; and window function, normally open or normally closed.

A binary function can also be selected where all four outputs link up to provide a quasi-analogue measurement with 15 steps over the span of the probe length.

A time-delay signal is also available to damp out the effects of turbulence or foaming in the medium, and for ease of use the head can be freely rotated through 360deg for optimum visibility of the four-digit alphanumeric display.

The IP67-rated stainless steel housing is fitted with an industrial M12 connector.
