Intergraph has announced that an updated version of SmartPlant Review will support Elumens' VisionStation single projector 1.5m, 180deg hemispherical display system

The Process and Building Solutions division of Intergraph Corporation has announced that an updated version of SmartPlant Review will support Elumens' VisionStation single projector hemispherical display system The VisionStation mode in SmartPlant Review 4.2.1 enables users to display 3D models with a full color, 180-degree field of vision for immersive design reviews and real-time dynamic walkthroughs or flythroughs

SmartPlant Review 4.2.1 is planned for release during first quarter.

By making designs more realistic, the VisionStation display of SmartPlant Review helps users to better visualise and understand the design.

The VisionStation supports all capabilities of SmartPlant Review, including dynamic motion, measurement, construction simulation, collaborative review, tagging, annotation, external data linking and animation.

The software and hardware combination helps shorten the design schedule and reduce errors through improved visual communication.

For in-depth analysis and review for engineering design, construction, retrofits and maintenance, SmartPlant Review consists of a main application and six add-on modules.

SmartPlant Review displays and manipulates Intergraph PDS (Plant Design System) 3D models as well as AutoCAD, MicroStation and Solid Edge files without translation.

Users can quickly display complex models in excess of 300 MB and dynamically navigate the 3D model with joystick, mouse or keyboard control.

Engineers can create information tags, labels, annotation text or attach links to external data to objects.

Modules include those for construction and schedule review, simulation and visual effects, photorealistic rendering, enterprise-wide collaborative review, on-site drawing generation and customisation.

SmartPlant Review incorporates Elumens' TruTheta technology to hemispherically correct images to provide realistic proportion and perspective on the VisionStation display.

VisionStation Envelops User in New Dimension of 3D Graphics The Elumens' VisionStation is the world's first single projector hemispherical display system that is immersive, portable and affordable.

Users are not required to wear goggles, glasses, helmets or other restrictive devices.

The VisionStation's 1.5 meter (5 foot) system projects a bright, focused, full-color image on a hemispherical screen with a 180-degree field of view.

The VisionStation integrates Elumens' patented TruTheta imaging technology.

TruTheta incorporates proprietary optics, software and screen design that envelops the user in the 3D content.

In addition to the VisionStation, Elumens produces an entire line of immersive display systems accommodating up to 35 people.

"VisionStation display support in SmartPlant Review should be a welcome advance for users of the products in a variety of engineering disciplines, not just process plant design.

The combination of the two technologies helps expand the boundaries of 3D visualization," said Phil LoPiccolo, editor in chief, Computer Graphics World magazine.

The magazine named the VisionStation a winner of a Year 2000 Innovation Award in its December 2000 issue.

As information becomes more complex, there is a need to have it portrayed in a more natural, accurate and realistic manner for better comprehension and decision-making.

Elumens Corporation is the leader in developing and delivering, easy-to-use solutions that make the proper communication and presentation of digital information possible.

Examples of digital information are 3D graphics, video, computer-aided design, real-time applications and animation.

TruTheta spherical imaging technology has been developed to maximize the impact of data used for the purposes of visualisation.

Elumens is dedicated to continuously improve upon the functionality, affordability and customer satisfaction of their offerings.
