The BP contract marks the first installation of Notia for a US offshore oil and gas development project.
The life cycle goal is to improve operational and maintenance efficiency of facilities by ensuring immediate access to accurate and current engineering data.
Tom Doran, vice president, Americas Regional Business Unit, Intergraph Process and Building Solutions, said, "There are no other companies operating in the Gulf that even come close to BP for the number of major capital projects and the estimated recoverable reserves.
Based on its proven track record throughout the North Sea, Notia will help BP meet the challenges of deepwater development in the Gulf of Mexico." A standards-based data warehouse for the process industries, Intergraph Notia is used by plant owners, offshore operators and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firms to compress schedules, improve quality and reduce project and data handover costs.
Owner-operators use Notia to capture, store and manage all engineering data for the 30-plus year life of the facility.
EPCs use Notia as a comprehensive engineering database to store and manage project data in an industry standard format that is efficiently handed over to the operator.
Notia defines the plant configuration independent of any proprietary system and embodies the neutrality, openness and data longevity characteristic of STEP-based technologies.
With a Web-enabled query and viewing environment, Notia provides functions for tag creation and management; change management; 2D schematic and 3D model interfaces; electronic document management; SAP R/3 integration; instrument loop and electrical distribution administration and supports related engineering tasks such as fabrication, procurement and maintenance.
