Version 5.1 of INtools released
The Process and Building Solutions division of Intergraph Corporation today announced the 5.1 version of INtools instrumentation engineering software.
The 7.0 version includes an upgrade to its structural steel package, FrameWorks Plus 7.0, detailed in a separate press release.
The new features combine to extend the usability of PDS further into the construction process and provide a more complete and accurate plant model.
PDS, the division's flagship product, is the world's best selling plant design package, according to analyst sources.
"For more than 22 years, the industry has relied on PDS as its primary plant design tool," said David Stinson, president, Intergraph Process and Building Solutions.
"While we develop our next-generation SmartPlant design software, we continue to implement customer ideas for PDS and provide first-class support for the plant design package that is crucial to their business success.

PDS 7.0 also supports Bentley Systems MicroStation/J as the CAD engine.
New features for piping include user-defined weld numbering and weld clash envelopes as well as the capability to display and review welds in SmartPlant Review 4.2, the 3D visualisation component of PDS.
Definable weld numbering allows users to implement company numbering standards for more consistent documentation.
Placing a clash envelope around a weld promotes constructibility planning.
For example, a weld clash envelope can define the access clearance required for an orbital welder.
The graphical display in SmartPlant Review indicates whether the weld is a shop or field weld.
SmartPlant Review users can define display sets of different types of welds and view each weld and its associated data.
PDS 7.0 supports the Alias Limited Industrial Software Products ISOGEN 8.0 isometric drawing extraction engine, which now allows taps in pipe tees, bends and elbows.
As a result, engineers can place taps of any size anywhere radially or tangentially on these piping components in the model.
The capability of placing taps adds an increased level of detail to the design and provides a more complete iso drawing for work packages, which helps improve constructibility.
Reporting and Annotation Improvements Boost Data Completeness PDS 7.0 includes reporting enhancements to the HVAC module and mass annotation for electrical components such as raceways.
HVAC equipment and hood attributes are now included in the list of items for reporting.
Related new features consist of a fitting description table in the project database and a dialogue box to create a fitting description report.
The additional attributes make reports more complete and assure more accurate material takeoffs.
PDS 7.0 also expands annotation capabilities beyond piping and equipment to electricals.
Users can rapidly annotate a large number of electrical components simultaneously by type, avoiding manual placement of annotations and tag descriptions.
