Plastic clevis joints cut weight and fit
easily

Igubal clevis joints offer a solution for use with pneumatic cylinders, gas struts, cabinet building, guarding, handling technology, model making, valve controls and more

The use of plastic materials in bearing technology has increased over the last few years, partly because it is possible to save money and weight using polymers Also, the rapid development of high performance polymer compounds has resulted in mechanical characteristics which sometimes exceed those of steel and other traditional materials

Polymer bearings are maintenance free, self lubricating, insensitive to the presence of soil fibres and dust, are totally resistant to corrosion, humidity and chemicals, and can help in vibration damping.

The igubal clevis joints, manufactured from a highly resistant material offers a solution for use with pneumatic cylinders, gas struts, cabinet building, guarding, the agricultural and general mechanical engineering industries, handling technology, the automotive industry, model making, valve controls etc.

The fast and simple assembly with the spring retention clip ensures a safe and reliable connection of the components, especially in inaccessible situations.

The load capacity of the clevis joints is very high, even at high ambient temperatures.

Although the part has a small mass, it can take a high load, has very good damping characteristics and weighs only one fifth of a conventional metal clevis joint.

When using clevis joints, specific features like temperature dependence and behaviour under long term stressing need to be taken into account.

For this reason and, especially at high permanent loads and high temperatures, the load capacity of clevis joints should be investigated in conjunction with the test results available from igus.

In the igus laboratory, more than 2500 trials are carried out each year, most have a running time of at least 100 hours.

Data obtained from several thousand documented standard tests are the basis for the calculations and advice which igus gives to their customers.

Igus clevis joints can be used in what are usually considered to be difficult conditions without any problems.

In wet and humid environments the clevis joints are corrosion and weather resistant, and weak acids and alkalines present no problems.

The temperature range is from -30C to +80C.

igubal clevis joints can be used dry, and do not require additional lubrication.

The material is fibre reinforced, and various filling materials optimise the mechanical characteristics.

This results in a highly wear resistant and dimensional stable material with a very good coefficient of friction.

Dimensions from 5mm to 20mm with standard and fine pitch threads are offered ex stock from igus. Request a free brochure from Igus UK ...
