Igus's Iglidur bearings 'win gold medal'

Magura used Igus's Iglidur polymer plain bearings in the 7.3kg bike ridden by German mountain biker Sabine Spitz in her gold-medal winning campaign at the Beijing Olympics.

The Iglidur bearings offer high wear resistance and are five times lighter than common metal bearings.

Four of these bearings were used in the suspension.

The Iglidur bearings are used in many bicycle applications, including cantilever brakes, gear shift units and derailleurs, rear swinging arms, shock absorber eyes, seat posts, disc brakes and pedals.
