P4 energy chain system has two sizes

An Igus UK product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 17, 2009

Igus has introduced a range of products for port cranes at the TOC Europe in Bremen.

The P4 energy-chain system is available in two sizes: P4.32 and P4.42.

The P4.42 (42mm inner height) is made for demanding crane applications: high speeds up to 10 m/s, long travels up to 800m and high filling weights up to 10 kg/m.

The P4.32 (32mm inner height) has been developed in a lighter, slimmer design for high speeds when the installation space is limited.

Upper run and lower run are rolling offset over each other.

Though the plastic profile rolls are not completely parallel, they roll on a wide surface, increasing the lifetime of the chain.

The pitch of the chain link is equal for links both with and without rollers, so that the energy chain has low noise and vibration levels in operation.

The rollers are fixed into the chain's side links, while the auto-glide cross bars are made of tribologically optimised plastic.

A trough system ensures the energy chain runs safely.
