No fewer than 19 different specimens can be supported for hardness testing by a single fixture developed by Indentec.
On a new Rockwell digital hardness testing machine for an Indian automotive manufacturer, the fixture can accommodate variously sized valves with either 45 or 60 degree cone angle and enables tests to be made at different points on the angled face.
The valve is mounted in a spring-loaded carriage, which positions the face directly under the indenter at the requisite right angle.
A quick action clamp locks the valve in place for the test.
When it has been completed, the clamp can be released and the face rotated to the next test position.
Indentec says that the system can be automated if need be, providing a quick and reliable solution to a problem that troubles many manufacturers in the automotive sector.
