Winchester reps fly to China
Representatives from noise control company IAC based in Winchester flew to Shenzhen, China, in late November to attend this year's academic conference on noise and vibration control engineering.

In the UK, IAC of Winchester has been contracted by Finning (UK) to supply noise control solutions for emergency standby generators within Addenbrookes hospital in Cambridge.
Over 200 delegates attended from academic and government institutions in all parts of China.
IAC China sponsored the event.
Established in 1993, the company employs 200 people and has become one of China's most prominent noise control engineering firms.
The papers presented by IAC China were entitled: Design of Noise Control for a Metro Ventilation System; Noise Calculations in Enclosed Spaces; Draw Away Testing in Anechoic Chambers; Noise Reduction of a Natural Draught Cooling Tower; and Construction of a RF-Shielded, Acoustic Security Room.
The main conference proceedings were followed by commercial presentations.
Geoff Crowhurst, Acoustics Division Director, IAC UK, spoke on the latest developments in anechoic chamber design and construction, and in particular on IAC's Metadyne metal wedge system.
Pascal Riche, Business Manager Power Solutions from IAC Boet Stopson France, presented on the topic of noise control for power plants.
He talked delegates through the technical intricacies of noise reducing intake systems, enclosures and exhaust systems for gas turbines; enclosures and engine silencers for diesel powered generators; and silencers for high pressure vent systems such as pressure relief valves.
