Seminar to examine materials in bicycles
One-day seminar will consider manufacturing issues, with specific presentations on the use of composites, magnesium and advanced metallic materials in bike structures.
A one-day event organised by the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, the professional body covering the entire lifecycle of materials, will coincide with the start of the Tour de France To be held on 6th July 2007 within walking distance of the opening ceremony in Trafalgar Square, Materials in Bicycles will feature big names from the cycling world

This year's Altair Technology Conference will take place on 2nd November at the Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon.
The seminar will consider manufacturing issues, examining frame materials with specific presentations on the use of composites, magnesium and advanced metallic materials.
The conference will cover different types of bicycles, including those used in the Tour de France, as well as aspects of cycle helmets.
Looking at the bike from a rider's perspective, Olympic Gold Medallist and world record breaker Chris Boardman will lead a presentation, and designer Mike Burrows, best known for his work on the time trial bicycle ridden by Boardman, will talk on past, present and future designs.
