IX SPeeD Suite from ImpactXoft Corp has been selected as a winner of the Eighth Annual Innovation Awards by Computer Graphics World magazine

IX SPeeD Suite from ImpactXoft Corp has been selected as a winner of the Eighth Annual Innovation Awards by Computer Graphics World magazine.

The software combines next-generation digital modeling for mechanical design with advanced tools for global design collaboration.

The interlocking technologies in IX SPeeD serve as a foundation for Simultaneous Product Development, a method of collaboration in which members of worldwide development teams co-develop products in parallel to achieve dramatically reduced time to market.

"The IX SPeeD Suite overcomes significant barriers to sharing design data over the Internet," says Phil LoPiccolo, editor-in-chief at Computer Graphics World.

"The history-independent approach to modeling allows team members to modify the digital product model at any stage in development.

The advanced approach to collaboration enables near-instantaneous updating of the model by many users, simultaneously, over low-speed connections." IX SPeeD is based on three underlying technologies.

IX Functional Modeling emphasizes the functions and behaviors of interacting model elements, eliminating the need for engineers to focus on the creation of lower-level modeling geometry.

IX Functional Object Representation captures the full intelligence of the model as a "design recipe" that can be shared over low-speed connections.

IX Design Intent Merge automatically coordinates design modifications and blends them into the model stored on each project member's workstation.

"The Internet offers vast potential for collaboration," says Attilio Rimoldi, president and CEO of ImpactXoft Corp.

"Our design technology exploits that potential in ways that older design programs, which were not architected for the Internet, can not.

We believe that design teams will be quick to take advantage of the dramatic ease and speed of global product development that IX SPeeD makes possible." The editors of Computer Graphics World and a panel of distinguished judges selected the recipients of the 2001 Innovation Awards.

The twenty winners represent the essence of innovation in visual computing.
