Jargon buster cuts through the ATEX jungle
ABB has published an "ATEX jargon buster" that helps motor users cut through the jungle of terms and definitions that make up the new ATEX Directives.
The award will celebrate and recognise good practice in the manufacturing industry promoting gender equality, diversity, and the increased participation of women in areas where they are currently underrepresented.
The award is open to all companies or divisions engaged in manufacturing in the UK, but there is only one month left to enter.
Sir Michael Moore, Chief Executive of IMechE, commented: "The Institution of Mechanical Engineers is pleased to welcome the involvement of UKRC in the Manufacturing Excellence Awards".
"As one of the very few major professional institutions that has seen a woman elected as president, we strongly support the aim of UKRC to provide accessible, high quality information and advice on best practice in the recruitment, retention and progression of women".
Companies applying for the UKRC Award for Equality will be asked to demonstrate ways in which they are actively encouraging and promoting gender equality and diversity in their workforce, for example, through recruitment and selection processes, equal pay monitoring, mentoring or networking schemes, work-life balance initiatives etc.
Entrants to the equality category can benefit from a tailor-made package, incorporating over GBP 10,000 worth of free consulting advice.
This includes a free consultation from the UKRC (designed to identify areas of good practice and enhance existing equality and diversity practices), a free benchmarking report, and "health check" visit from the DTI's Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS).
All applicants to the MX programme are required to fill out a self-assessment audit by 4th March.
The audit forms are sent by post on receipt of an MX 2005 awards entry form.
